The Mission: Travel to San Diego to Clobberin’
Con XVI and have the time of your life.
Mission accomplished!
Howdy, Clobberin’ citizens! Issue #3 is here, just a
WEE bit late, but only by a week (we used to do worse, remember?).
Sorry about the delay. Had to deal with the sickness AND getting
the big Nice Guy update up, and it just wasn’t going to
happen. Hope that gave some people time to put some finishing
touches on their zines.
This time around, Aaron “Wingboy” Storck
has stepped up from contributions to a full-on zine, and joined
the ranks of the likes of Dave by doing his zine in handy PDF
format. That’s a little reminder for you all that might
not be into web design but know how to work a PDF. You can do
it that way, too.
Aside from the contributions, we’ve got our first online
Con report to check out!
Clobberin Con XVI
As you can see on the Contents page, there are two different
pages where you can check out the skinny on the Con That Was.
The first is the Con report that I wrote up, with all the sordid
details:
Clobberin’
Con XVI Con Report
While there are some pics within the report, you can check
out even more at Con Gallery:
Clobberin’
Con XVI Photo Gallery
As I say on that page, that’s just some of the pics.
I did a full on photo gallery with all, like, 180 pics for the
post-Con Nice Guy update, and it took me forEVER to do. Then
I started the ‘Times update, and realized I didn’t
have time to go through all that again. So I put up the ones
more of interest to ‘Timers (ones of ‘Times members)
here as sort of a family album, but you can check them all out,
if you like, over at the Nice Guy site:

Guy Photo Page – 2005 Comic-Con Photos
We’re all back home now, and as usual, had an amazing
time. ‘Timers Aaron Storck, Aaron
“A.T.” Thompson, K.C. Ryan,
Jeff Baumgardner, Kaye Bellot,
Ben Bellot, Michael “That’s
me” O’Connell—along with regular
Con pals Russ Williams and Tony Graham—hooked
up for Comic-Con International 2005 in San
Diego on July 13-16. A blast was had. There were panels, there
was gaming, there were celebrity encounters, and there was even
a live radio appearance by a certain Mr. Storck! As with all
years past, it was an amazing time, and we all came back with
a lot of great memories and a creative recharge. Great to see
old friends again (as this is the one chance most of have to
see each other a year) and relive the old times again. Wish
more of you could have been there!
That brings us to next year. While I was preparing to leave
for the trip, I was telling a lot of people about it, and friends
of mine in town, as well as relatives of mine, have decided
that next year they’re going to stop hearing about it
and actually show up. So our big goal is to get as many people
as possible out to the thing. So start making plans! That’s
July 20-23, 2006, so mark that calander. You
have a year, and we’d love to see you there. We want Martin
back! We want Joel back! And we’d love to see some first-timers
make it out, too. So think about it!
'Times Founders Make TV Appearance
Hey, did I even mention this here? I mentioned on the ‘Times
board, I think. Back in May, Tim and I were on Channel 13 in
Sacramento on the Daybreak show, along with A-1 Comics owner
(and backer of ours) Brian Peets, talking about The Nice Guy.
Thought I’d throw a couple of the screen caps on here,
at least, in case you didn’t see them over at the Nice
Guy site.

Michael O'Connell and Daybreak host Cody Stark

Next Issue Deadline
Deadline for the next CTO issue is October
9, 2005, for inclusion in the October 10, 2005 issue.
Going to be a week off again because on the normal deadline
weekend, Aaron and I are both going to be in San Diego seeing
the big Serenity premiere with our old Firefly pals. Just put
your stuff on a web page (or in a PDF) and e-mail the link (or
the file) to me at:
oconnellmd@aol.com
Don’t forget to go out and see Serenity
yourself on Friday, September 30th, and keep hope alive for
Browncoats everywhere by helping the film make enough cash to
warrant the planned trilogy. If you’re not hip to Serenity,
hop down to your video retailer or to Amazon.com and pick up
the Firefly DVD set…or just start watching those reruns
on Friday nights at 7pm on Sci Fi!
We’ll see you all next time, and hope to see more of
you here!
