Let year two commence!
Spring is just flying by, isn't it? By our next deadline, we'll
be pretty much into summer...which brings all kinds of fun,
including a big-ass Clobberin' Con. And less rain, one hopes...
Cover Lovin'
This issue's cover is by our own Bill Jackson, and goes OLD
school 'Times on us, as Red Shift and Zephyr team up for heroics
and copyright infringement. Fun for the whole family...at senses-shattering
speeds!!! Thanks, Bill
Off the Market
In case you ain't heard the news (which you likely did on the
'Times board), Mr. Aaron Storck has done the deed...proposed,
that is. He sprung the question a little bit before Valentines
Day, and managed to pull out a "yes". So he and Jeni
will be tying the proverbial knot this September in lovely (and
soggy) Seattle, with a California reception to follow in San
Diego soon after. A big 'Times "woo hoo!" to the happy
couple. Jeni, I don't mean to go all Claremont on you, but...hope
you survive the experience (tm)!
The Fellowship of the Geek
A couple of 'Times meet-ups happened since last time around,
which are always a treat when we can manage them outside of
Con time. First, Aaron (thanks to a gifted airline ticket from
Jeni) made a trip here to visit me in Sac-Town for a weekend,
which gave us not only a chance to hang out and have some drinks
with the old gang (including former 'Timers Tim "I founded
it" Watts, Aaron "A.T." Thompson and Jon "J.G."
Grimes), but to also sneak in some live Champions Forte gaming
when I had former Forte jocks Randy, Jim and Adam drop by to
geek it up with us. You can read all about that experience in
my zine this time around. Much fun. And rumor has it that a
reunion of AEGIS proportions took place in Chicago, when K.C.
and Dr. Rex got a chance to hook up as well. And I'm sure there'll
be more reunion tales to tell a couple of issues from now, since...
Con Time is Closing!
That's right, it's coming, and it's coming FAST. Clobberin'
Con XVII takes San Diego by storm (taking place during that
lesser known Con, Comic-Con International) this July 19-23 (we
count the 19th since we all get there on Wednesday anyway...).
Should be a good one this time around. Tim and I will be there,
doing our Nice Guy thing (planning on having a table again this
year). Jeff is confirmed. Aaron's coming and bringing Jeni along
for her first Con experience (brave, brave man). Martin's bringing
the whole family! If all goes well, we'll be seeing Joel there
behind the DarkWater table (let the battle of the 'Timer tables
begin!). And, of course, we always plan on the treat of seeing
Ben and Kaye when they come down from L.A. on Saturday. My sister
finally got tired of hearing the stories and wants to experience
it for herself (and work the Nice Guy table), so she'll be there,
along my niece. I've got some Sac pals who, too, got hyp-mo-tized
by my Con tales and are planning on coming. BIG year! We talked
about this last year, making this the "let's-see-how-many-people-we-can-possible-get-here"
year, and it's shaping up to be just that.
So if you have the means, and have nothing better to do in
late July, why not consider a trip to sunny San Diego yer darn
self? To quote a very scary, and short, old lady...ALLLL are
welcome, ALLLL are welcome...
