Words and News from Yer Central Mailer for CTO #9

And Con season heads toward a close. Awww...

Welcome back to the real world, one and all. Sad, but true. But at least we've got a new 'Times issue waiting for us.

Cover Lovin'

You KNOW you want more Bill Jackson art! Who DOESN'T? Well, that's just what Bill gives us with this issue's piece, a shot of a character named Stardust. Nice WORK, big Bill!

Clobberin' Con XVII is OVAH!

Another amazing week in San Diego behind us. Wow, have we ever been doing this for a LONG time...

UNfortunately, thanks to getting back from it so close to the 'Times deadline...I ain't got the update and photo gallery done! Didn't want to hold up the issue for it, so I'm going to have to add it along the way and share, so I'll let the board know when there's an update. In summary, me, Tim, Joel, Jeff, Martin (and family!), Ben and Kaye (and the boys!), and surprise guest star MIKE TAYLOR (a name on the 'Times roster from nearly 20 years ago who never actually submitted, but an old friend to Tim and me that we lost track of many, many years ago) made the scene, saw panels, paid too much for food, bought things we didn't need, bugged artists, and had a great time all around. All the details from my POV are forthcoming, but in the meantime, you can jump on over to Martin's zine this time around and read his report of the fun he and the fam partook of. So check his out, and stay tuned from more from me!

The Man With the Van

Oh, yeah...and I also managed to pick up the new VAN before the Con! Yes, it all came together. Raised about $25k, got a loan for the rest, went down to Van Nuys (love the irony of that) and spent some time getting fitted for it, and then loaded up and drove it down to the Con. Thanks to everyone who helped out, who spread the word, and has been following the progress. Mission accomplished. I have wheels that work! And work well. Yeah. That was a pretty good trip to SoCal for me...

Next Issue Deadline

Deadline for the next CTO issue is September 30, 2006, for inclusion in the October 1, 2006 issue. Just put your stuff on a web page (or in a PDF) and e-mail the link (or the file) to me at:

oconnellmd@aol.com

As always, any questions, drop me a line, or post on the board. Bye, bye, Summertime, hello Fall. Get out and shop for those back-to-school clothes, kids...
