The Clobberin' Times was an APA (Amateur Press
Alliance) dedicated to Champions, the super
role-playing game from Hero
Games. This member-based/created publication ran from 1988
to 2000, for a total of 67 bi-monthly issues. 57 contributors
were members of the 'Times during its years.

The 'Times' content included Champions discussion, characters,
villains, vehicles, bases, scenarios, campaign reports and histories,
character fiction, art, comic stories, articles, essays, and
countless pages of "mailing comments" (comments about
other contributors' material from the previous issue). At its
peak, an issue of the Clobberin' Times could be hundreds of
pages per issue. It spawned two shared-universe fiction projects,
"ConTinuum" and "Omniverse", each coming
out every other issue of the 'Times as a special section. Awards,
known as the "Grimmies", were voted on and given out
each year for outstanding content. Clobberin' Times members
would gather annually, depending on which coast they were on
(and sometimes that didn't matter), at "Clobberin' Cons"
set at the big comic conventions (such as San Diego and Chicago).
Former members of the 'Times have gone on to be comic professionals,
computer game designers, role-playing game designers, and one
to even form a company and buy Hero Games.

The Clobberin' Times Online is the digital
continuation of the classic print publication, where former
'Timers have gathered again to talk about, write about, draw
about and dream about their still-great love...Champions. Every
two months, on the first of the month, contributors post up
Champions-based material on a web page(s), and those links are
collected and placed here in each "issue's" table
of contents. This content is then discussed between issues on
the Clobberin' Times Yahoo Group. Contributors are limited to
former members of the Clobberin' Times at this time.
