Nathan James

First Appearance: Forte 2000: "Hooray for Holly Wood"

Someone once said of University of Miami law student Nathan James that he could convince the devil to buy central heating.

Actually, it was Nathan James himself that said that.

James spent several years with the high-powered Baltimore law firm of Jackson, Carter and Quinn brokering several large deals, before the bottom dropped out from below him. His marriage to his college sweetheart was over, his son at age 12 was in trouble with the law, and the rush he got from making high-pressure deals was non-existent. His life was spiraling out of control.

At age 34, Nathan James looked up an old law school friend in the Justice Department and eventually became a federal prosecutor. James spent the next fifteen years pursuing the punishment of criminals with the same passion that he had once pursued multi-million dollar deals. Eventually taking over the Cleveland main office for the Sixth District Court in the mid-1980's, James oversaw or prosecuted a large number of cases involving the Paragons, Cleveland's super-team, where he developed a close friendship with the heroes.

After most of the Paragons had perished in a nuclear accident and the team had officially disbanded, James once again found himself feeling empty and without direction. He decided to enter private practice and take a break from high-profile cases for a while. He moved back to the Miami suburbs of his childhood and undertook small cases, many pro-bono, as his interest was piqued.

In the late 1990's, his old friend from the Paragons, Tracker, showed up at his office with an offer to manage the legal affairs for the newly forming Armor Security. Nathan James, eager to get back into the limelight, jumped at the opportunity and began recruiting the best and brightest from his storied legal career.

Nathan James is an adrenaline junkie, living for the deal, the conviction, or, these days, the contract. Though a cynic by nature, he has come to believe in the greater good that Armor Security does. He is often at odds arguing with some of the more headstrong operatives in the company, notably Shockwaive, Triphammer and Dyna Girl, but usually because he feels he is looking out for their (and the company's) best interest.
