First Appearance: Forte
2000: "A Friend in Need, Part One - Dirty Little Secret"
While with NRG Labs, Mark Kellerman laid the foundation for their world-renowned study of super-human development with a number of ground-breaking studies. He quickly became the department head for the Division for Super-Human Study (DSHS) and was instrumental in working with Riptide and Shockwaive, teaching them how to use their abilities. After a while, NRG began some questionable lines of research, which Dr. Kellerman objected to. The company's response was to classify access to the research and tell Kellerman that he needn't worry about it. Quickly, he realized that NRG would start looking for an excuse to get rid of him. Then as the company began to come under investigation (thanks, Vanguard!) and suffered a number of financial crises, the DSHS was closed down and Kellerman laid off. He worked as a consultant for a number of competitors, including STAR and Questar, but was reluctant to seek permanent employ with either. A number of years later, when NRG reemerged as part of the University of Washington with the Division for Super-Human Study as its primary department, Mark Kellerman was approached and asked to come back in his old capacity as department head. Dr. Kellerman was about to accept the offer when he received a counter-proposal: it seemed that his old protégés had reformed Armor Security in Los Angeles. Considering that the job in California gave him the chance to work with Reed Richards, a legendary figure and the pioneer in the study of super-human abilities, Dr. Kellerman jumped at the opportunity to become head of the Bio-sciences department for Armor. |
