Reed Richards

When an ill-fated space flight turned scientific genius Reed Richards, his fiancee Susan Storm, her brother Johnny Storm, and Reed's friend Ben Grimm into the cosmically-altered heroes that came to be called the Fantastic Four, L.A. became a city of heroes. Operating out of the Baxter Building, Mr. Fantastic (Reed), The Invisible Woman (Sue), The Human Torch (Johnny) and the Thing (Ben) were early pioneers in heroing, and their exploits were legendary. That was until a tragic battle left Johnny in a permanent vegetative state, Sue in a mental institution, and Ben leaving to wander the Earth to deal with his grief. It also left Reed alone to raise his young son, Franklin. All but exiling himself to the Baxter Building, Reed retired from heroing and focused on science and fatherhood exclusively.

When an attempted villain robbery at a tech and science convention he was hosting was thwarted by heroes for hire that Reed had contracted for security, Reed was suitably impressed with the newcomers, and realized that Los Angeles had been without heroes long enough. Knowing that these former heroes of Armor Security were looking to start the company up again, Reed offered to back them--providing start-up capital, technology, and the lease of several floors of the Baxter Building--and help make the new Armor Security a reality. Reed agreed to serve as Chairman of the new company, bringing his years of business experience, his history in heroing, and his name recognition to the venture.

Having people back in his building has helped Reed come out of his shell somewhat and rejoin the outside world, and he's come to know and befriend the company's employees. He also feels it's important for his son, Franklin, to have more people to interract with, and his twenty-something son, while still spending much of his time helping his father in the lab, has taken advantage of the chance and spends a good deal of time on the Armor floors.
