Triphammer

(Michael Blaine)

First Appearance: Forte #61 (original), Forte 2000: "Tell Her What She's Won, Bob..." (latter)

Bad luck has followed Michael Blaine most of his life. The worst of it came when his cleats caught as he was rounding third base and was about to score the winning run for UCLA in the College World Series. He took a major spill that not only cost the Bruins the title, but also cut short a very promising career in the pros. His scholarship was gone and his grades were not worth transferring to another, less expensive school. Michael went back home to Montana and took a dead-end job driving a truck for his uncle's auto wrecking yard.

Michael got caught up in another round of bad luck. Within 24 hours, he had wrecked his uncle's truck in an accident with a chemical tanker and got covered by the contents. Afterwards, he developed a violent reaction to the cleaning agent used by the HazMat team to get the chemical residue off of him and had to be rushed to the hospital where he got injected with something OTHER THAN the anti-inflammatory prescribed to reduce the swelling caused by the cleanser, and had to be aggressively resuscitated after the injection put his body in anaphylaxis.

After being released from the hospital, Michael's uncle fired him for wrecking his truck. Michael stomped out of his uncle's office and in a fit of rage kicked an empty oil drum. The drum sailed across the yard and landed about 50 yards away. After a few more tests, Michael realized that he now possessed super-strength. He also realized that he needed to find a way to cash in on this new ability and quickly. He began calling some of his old college buddies looking for someone that might know of a company that could use someone like him. After a few calls, a friend recommended calling the firm his father worked for—American-Canadian Engineering Security. After a brief interview, Michael Blaine was hired and dubbed "Triphammer," the company's lone hero.

When ACE Security was sold, the company was renamed "Armor Security" and Triphammer became a founding member of the company's new super-team, ARMOR. Michael Blaine's luck had finally changed for the better.
