Real Name: Seena On the peaceful world of Wendelo, a girl named Seena was born with the gift that appeared in a very rare minority of her people, and that gift meant that her parents gave her over to the Travelers--the extraordinary sect of their world's religion--not long after her ability was discovered. Like the other Travelers, she was able to open doors in reality and step through, teleporting instantly across great distances. As she grew and her training progressed, her range grew further, as did her ability to take others with her. Soon she was beyond traveling across the lush continent of her homeland. Soon she could travel across worlds. In their pacifistic religion, the Travelers served as both ambassadors and explorers, journeying to faraway worlds and seeking harmony with the cultures there. Their beliefs cherished the diversity in others, and nurtured the ideal that only through the gaining of knowledge could a person truly grow and reach their potential. The Travelers gained this knowledge and returned to teach it to their people, to record it in the great cultural repository of Wendelo. Though pacifists, the peoples of Wendelo were also skilled fighters. This first became part of their culture to defend themselves from the ferocious predators of their own world, but for the Travelers, it was also necessary to protect themselves on hostile worlds they might encounter, or to keep themselves from having their gift exploited by those who would capture them and use them for personal or military gain. The martial art of Wendelo, using not only hands and feet but the headtails of their race, was never used in anger, but was used to stunning effect when the need arose. Seena found peace in her religion and her gaining of knowledge, but she also felt different than her brothers and sisters. She felt that the many worlds of the galaxy were something to be experienced, embraced and joined, not simply to be studied and catalogued, locked away in the repository. In her travels, she saw much pain and much need. She also saw great potential, felt the calling to be a part of it. She felt herself growing further away from her sect, but to what end, she could not say. On one of her journeys, one to a seemingly unremarkable world, the Realmsovereign himself arrived on a good will visitation to the planet that had just recently joined with the Realm. As she watched from a distance in the marketplace, terrorists of that world who defied what they considered to be Realm rule struck in large numbers, surprising and overwhelming the Realmguard and nearly succeeding in their plan to kidnap the Sovereign. But Seena intervened, bravely and skillfully fighting them off and saving the Sovereign from their clutches. The Realmguard regrouped and overcame the terrorists, and once safe again, the grateful Realmsovereign not only blessed Seena with the highest civilian commendation possible, but, after seeing her abilities, asked her to be part of a group of other extraordinary beings he was putting together to be his personal guard--a group called the Realmwatch. Feeling the pull of destiny and an answer to her yearnings, Seena accepted. In doing so, she chose to leave an order that she had sworn to be bound to for life. Though she tried to convince them that her true path lay elsewhere, the Travelers turned their backs on her for her breaking of her holy pledge. Taking the name Traveler to honor her heritage, Seena became an outcast to her people, but a champion of the Realm. Traveler is serene and thoughtful, wise and curious. It's taken her time to overcome the guilt and shame of her choice, but she's finally begun to embrace the universe around her. She enjoys all the new experiences and emotions she'd denied herself for so many years. A fierce but controlled fighter, she is stronger than the average humanoid, with the heightened senses natural to her race and highly attuned reflexes. She uses her portaling powers for the Realmwatch now, often transporting them to the worlds where they must serve. She can portal great distances, even to other galaxies, but such journeys take a great deal out of her, leaving her unable to use her abilities for sometimes days afterward. One such journey led her and the Realmwatch to a faraway blue planet called Earth, where they met a group of human protectors named Forte, and where Seena met the Earthman called Seahawk, a male that continues to occupy her thoughts to this day. |
