Mist

Using a belt that gave her weather control powers and the ability to pass through solid objects, meteorologist Syndey Todd took on the costumed persona of "The Mist" and joined the just-formed new Seattle hero team Forte in 1987. During her adventures with the team, she was chosen by a self-important and all-powerful group of mages called The Omnicron to carry the soul of a yet-born child they were protecting, and they chose the father for the child as well...Earth's sorcerer supreme Dr. Stephen Strange. Their odd pairing in the process of conception burgeoned into romance, and the two married and began raising the special child called Caleb. Caleb was, in fact, the child of the darkly powerful Forte nemesis Lucifer D'Arque and the villainess Black Rose/Hellequin, who was, in fact, the stolen-at-conception daughter of Dr. Jackal and Knightsabre (and this reality's version of Nightsable). When Caleb was taken by Hellequin in her attempt to raise D'Arque from the dead to be reborn into godhood through the child, Sydney and the rest of Forte rushed to stop it. A mystical blast from Hellequin internalized Syndey's belt powers, giving her no more need to use the belt.

After retiring from super-heroing, Sydney accepted an offer to join UNCLE, and began in Seattle as an agent, and soon an officer. As she advanced, she was soon handed the command of UNCLE's San Francisco branch, a dumping ground for problem agents and the weakest link in the agency. Over time, she turned the branch around and changed it into a force to be reckoned with. But when things got too dangerous in San Francisco for UNCLE to handle alone, Syndey returned to wearing the costume of Mist and formed a new California super-team called Forge.
