Jason Tulee

First Appearance: Forte 2000 #1

Jason Tulee, a member of the Suquamish tribe, grew up on the reservation at Port Madison across Puget Sound from Seattle, the eldest son in a large family. He was hungry for an early age to learn all the history of his people and the surrounding region that had been their home, but he also kept his feet firmly planted in the modern world, playing guitar in a local Seattle band and opening a motorcycle repair shop. It was at this shop that he met a grad student from a very wealthy family named Davis Alexander, both a motorcycle enthusiast and an archeologist specializing in the indigenous peoples of the Northwest and their legends. The two became fast friends, and Jason also became Davis's guide for his many local expeditions. It was on one such outing, with Davis searching for evidence of the legend of the native American protector spirit Ta-co-bet, they they came upon a hidden glacial chamber on Mount Rainier, and found a coal urn of ancient origin. To Jason's surprise, Davis--overcome by an unexplainable compulsion--smashed the urn, and released the spirit of Ta-co-bet, which quickly inhabited Davis. Jason was the first to witness Davis's transformation into the mammoth, rocky being called Rainier that would become a member of the new Forte. Davis and Jason are still friends, and still explore the forests and mountaintops of Washington together for Davis's research.
