Chelsea Wildheart

"Moondancer"

First Appearance: Forte #263 (original), Forte 2000: "Pastels" (latter)

The native American young woman named Chelsea Wildheart had long since left her heritage behind and joined the modern world, her ties to it seeming to sever with the death of her mother. But her grandmother, Moon Chases Stars, met with her one day and spoke of a destiny that was hers alone that she must follow. Led by compulsion, Chelsea walked away from her home and her life and found her way to a hidden glen, where a spirit overtook her and caused her to dance steps that no feet had made in at least a hundred years. She awoke from her trance, found a buckskin purse with mystical totems, and began her path as the heroine Moondancer. Moondancer ended up in Seattle and joined Forte, and became very well-known around the world. But those who knew her also knew of her rage and short temper, which she often took out on unlucky villains...or on those closest to her (in a less violent way). She was one of the last of the original Forte members, and left to continue to seek the destiny that had been handed down to her. She returned to Seattle on occasion, and did so when the new Forte team had formed, and started a fiery romance with the hero Rainier that often ended when she pushed him away and took off...only to return to rekindle things later. After one particularly bad return to Forte where she and Tinker came to blows, she experienced a vision in her travels that changed her inside, and she returned to Seattle a seemingly gentler, changed woman.

Moondancer is the last inheritor of the powers of the moon, and has been led by visions from a woman in golden armor with a purple cloak that she has recently been led to believe is an Egyptian goddess named Khonsu. Not a current member of Forte, Chelsea aids the team when she's back in the area, but it still largely mobile. She has strong feelings for Davis Alexander (Rainier) but neither of them are yet sure where that will lead.
