| Wally Wood
"Electro Man" |
First Appearance: Forte #300 (original),
Forte 2000 #2 (latter)
Using his amazing electrical abilities, Wally Wood became the hero Electro Man and was a founding member of the 70s hero team The Protectors. He and his wife, Rose, had a daughter they named Holly in 1979. In 1983, Wally's powers began to diminish, and he retired from the Protectors and focused full-time on his family and his company, Wood Scientific. However, in 1995, while his daughter was attending school abroad in England, his power inexplicably returned, and it was during this time that he returned to being Electro Man and joined Forte. He remained on-and-off with the team, and ended up being the last active Forte member after the remaing membership dwindled away. Tragedy struck the Wood family in 1996 when Rose was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. She survived long enough to see Holly graduate high school in 1997 and then passed, a devastating blow to both Wally and Holly. As Holly began college, Wally, whose powers had disappeared again, sold Wood Scientific at the heart of the dot-com bubble and retired, moving to Seattle full-time to be near Holly. During this time, two things happened. First, a group of Forte alumi approached Wally and asked him to be the curator of the new Forte Museum, and to take over as director of the Forte Foundation, which Wally accepted. Second, he discovered that Holly had super-powers, and they both came to learn that his dwindling powers happened due to the power being transferred, somehow, to her. Electro Man's heroing days were done, but the Wood tradition of heroism would live on through Holly becaming the new Forte's Dyna Girl. Wally now runs the Forte Museum and Foundation full-time, and is well-known and loved through Seattle. His tireless efforts for Forte charities have enriched the community, and his works at educating the young on their heroes have ensured that the Forte legend will ever live on. |
