Erebus

A lifelong practitioner of the black arts, the dark mage known as Erebus has allied himself with many groups and individuals over the years, choosing whomever he felt would best serve his personal agenda of gaining more and more mystic power. A student of both magic and history, he has sought items, totems and texts of great power, and shown no fear of whatever evil might be behind them. He's caught the attention of this plane's defender mystics, who are always on the lookout for him. Petty, power-mad, duplicitous and self-serving, his most recent grab for godhood involved siding with the domestic terrorist group Mandate and using their resources to help him find a rumored item of great power (convincing them, of course, that it would become theirs, when he planned all along to betray them and take it for himself), an action which, inadvertently, set Forte on the trail of the returning Anubis.

Erebus has amassed substantial magic power over the years, often dealing off bits of his soul to the lower realms to gain it, and his spells are often devastating in their strength, making him a formidable foe. He's gotten on the bad side of mystics, heroes and those he's used and double-crossed. The self-appointed (and self-important) sorcerer council known as the Omnicron have even taken an interest in his activities, and continue to watch him and his schemes and plans...to make sure his don't interfere with theirs.
