Male Karrigon Warrior |
First Appearance: Forte
2000 #2
In a time long before Earth's written history, great kingdoms of magic power ruled the planet, some honorable, some bent on conquest. A great magic world war erupted, and the sea-going race known as the Cassians took up sides against their brothers, the violent Karrigon, who had left the sea years before, coveting the surface world and bent on conquering it. A final battle between the brother races stopped the Karrigon and those siding with them, and the continent that would, ages later, become America was almost destroyed. The Karrigon, along with other races, were banished to another dimension, and those races still on Earth chose to leave it and let it evolve on its own, lest their magics almost destroy it again. This was the first great magic exodus of Earth. The Cassians were chosen to remain behind, hidden in a teseract city below the sea off the Washington coast, to watch over the world of men and its magic growth, never showing themselves or interfering. But some among the Cassians were not satisfied with this life or destiny, and felt that the world above was their birthright, and wanted it back from the hands of men. Elements within the Cassian race plotted to return the banished Karrigon to fight with them and overthrow the Earth. With the assistance of the mysterious Mr. Dusk and others (possibly Nicholas Ares), the Karrigon breached the mystic wall that kept them from returning, and invaded the city of Seattle, an area that was their kingdom in the previous age. They were led by Lord Raze, the most powerful and strong-willed among them, a being of great strength and mystic mastery (and arrogance). Erecting a mystic shield over Seattle, keeping Earth's armies and heroes out, he planned to use it as a staging ground to overthrow Earth...starting with a spell his mages began that would unleash a global Earthquake that would pacify the human-infested planet and wipe out their great cities. But four new Seattle heroes, who had stumbled across this plot, fought bravely against overwhelming odds to stop him, and in the end defeated him and his armies--with last-minute help from the Cassians themselves. Raze was defeated personally by the heroes, and he and his race were banished once more to their dimension of exile, where they still plot their return to take back the world they believe to be theirs and take vengeneance on those who stopped them. |
